New codes available
The 2015 Minnesota Building Code (amended 2012 IBC) and 2015 Minnesota Energy Code (amended 2012 IECC) are now available from ICC and Minnesota’s bookstore. Visit the department’s website to purchase.
Free public electronic versions should be available by May 22. A Spanish version of the 2015 Minnesota Residential Code will be available mid-July 2015.
Effective date of Building and Energy Code
The effective date of the new 2015 Minnesota Building Code and 2015 Minnesota (Commercial) Energy Code is June 2, 2015.
Building Official Forum date set
CCLD will host a forum from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Camp Ripley on June 5, 2015. This forum will review what is currently being done to address the challenges facing the municipal building official including prospects for competent successors and provide for an exchange of ideas among attendees to help create an action plan. Continental breakfast will be provided. Please register now. Attendance is free and 2.5 hours of continuing education for building officials will be provided.
Building resiliency presentation
On May 21, 2015, a researcher from Georgetown Climate Center will present her findings and recommendations for improving building resiliency in the Minnesota Building Code. The meeting will be held in the offices of the Department of Labor and Industry from 10 a.m. to noon at 443 Lafayette Road North in St. Paul. Attendance is free and 2 hours of continuing education for building officials will be provided.
